Blushing for Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and I wanted to share this simple blush themed outfit with you. Whether you have a fancy romantic dinner out, some couple friends over for dinner, or some Galentine's day shenanigans this outfit has you covered.

It's no secret that blush has been one of the hottest colours for the past few seasons and I'm loving every minute of it. That barely-there pink is so timeless and pairs well with just about everything in your closet. One of my favourite ways to wear blush lately is to pair a blush top with blush bottoms... strange I know, but hear me out. In this look I've paired a soft and cozy blush sweater with a shimmering metallic blush midi skirt. The contrasting textures is what catches your eye first, and upon second glance you realize its all the same colour palette. Add in a jewelled clutch and a pair of fun heels and you are all set for the night.

Let's take a minute to chat about these heels, I reach for these so often that it is almost second nature. Leopard is a neutral in my books because it literally goes with everything... seriously, you name it and I can tell you how to pair it with these heels. What I love the most about these heels in particular is that the actual heel height is perfect for adding height to my frame, but also comfortable enough for me to walk around in them all night long. So ladies, do yourself a service and get a pair to add to your collection now!

This year for the big day of love I will be working twelve hours (because it falls on a Tuesday) but we will be celebrating it as a family on Sunday. I agree that we should celebrate love for each other everyday but I like having a day to make it extra special or just to remind ourselves to tell our loved ones how much they mean to us. Here are some ideas to celebrate Valentine's Day as a family... because let's face the facts, most of us will likely not be able to find a sitter and have the luxury of a late night romantic and uninterrupted meal in a room with other adults doing the same thing.

Make an early reservation at a family friendly restaurant, timing it so you will be home in time to begin the bedtime routines for the babes. Once they are in bed (and sleeping for the whole night of course haha) you and the honey can enjoy a few glasses of wine and some delicious desserts and just catch up on how each other are doing.

Pre-planned Valentine's Day Dinner from your local catering companies. For example, Pete's Fine Foods here in Halifax offers amazing meal packages designed for two. You can work with them to customize a meal or choose one that is already listed. Each option will come with enough ingredients (most of which have the prep work done for you) for two people and you don't have to do much more than turn on the oven and pour a glass (or two) of wine. You can have dinner in the oven and the plates set as you are prepping the babes for bedtime and then its all about you two and the silence...and wine. Notice how I keep mentioning wine?

A romantic movie and easy appetizers for the win. Not a huge fan of cooking or you just don't have the time once you get home from work and feed the babes and put them to bed? No problem! There have been nights when we have just grabbed our favourite charcuterie meats and cheeses with wine and called it a night. Sometimes putting less pressure on making things big and magical actually give you the best memories. Snacks, a romantic movie (because he will indulge you on the day of love), and some cuddling on the couch would be a perfect way to share Valentine's Day... that is, when the babes are asleep snug in their beds.

No matter how you spend the big day of love, I hope you have an amazing one! Thanks for reading along, and until next time.
